P2 architects have set out our basic guidance for clients so that our working
methods can be understood from the outset. These procedures, together
with our experience, ensures that the process of designing, constructing and
completing a project is as rewarding as possible for our clients.
The Brief
We meet with prospective clients to discuss requirements and a general brief without charge after which a fee proposal is provided for perusal. Once appointed we clarify the brief in more detail, listening to the clients' requirements and expectations.
The RIBA Plan of Work intends to provide a clear process for clients of all types and the enclosed image links will lead client to the RIBA approved documents. However in simple terms the process follows the following route:
Outline Proposal; Sketch Design; Planning Submissions; Detail Design; Preoduction Information; Tendering; Construction & Completion.
Appointment of Consultants
In order for a project to proceed smoothly the appropriate consultants need to be appointed. On some projects it is advisable to appoint a Quantity Surveyor; as we believe that having a highly competent independent cost adviser in which the client trusts is crucial to the success of most projects. A Structural Engineer is also usually appointed at the early stages of the sketch design.

Planning Applications
We will advise you on whether a planning, listed luilding or conservation area application is required and guide the process. We have submitted many successful applications and will use our experience to your benefit.

We encourage clients to only use contractors who can demonstrate the highest level of quality, familiarity with the type of project proposed and who have exemplary references. There are often situations where a traditional competitive tender might not be the most appropriate method of procurement. We will advise on the alternatives.

We administrator the contract between the client and contractor. We verify how much the contractor should be paid each month, and ensure that they are carrying out the project as designed and specified.
